Published by: Mohammed Siddiq

Transforming Healthcare with Innovative Features and Enhancements

As we step into March 2025, we’re excited to take a moment to reflect on the incredible progress MocDoc made throughout 2024. Over the past year, we introduced a wide range of new features and enhancements designed to streamline workflows, improve patient care, and make healthcare management more efficient than ever. From multilingual support to advanced inventory management, we’ve been hard at work to ensure that MocDoc continues to meet the evolving needs of hospitals, labs, pharmacies, and ART centers.

Let’s take a look at some of the key updates we rolled out last year, grouped by their relevance to different aspects of healthcare operations.

1. Enhancing Patient Communication and Accessibility

In 2024, we made significant strides in improving how healthcare providers communicate with patients, ensuring that language barriers and accessibility challenges are a thing of the past.

  • Multilingual Prescription Printing: Patients can now receive prescriptions in multiple languages, including Tamil, Arabic, Telugu, and Kannada, alongside English. This feature fosters better communication and ensures patients understand their treatment plans clearly.
  • Multilingual Lab Reports: We expanded our multilingual support to lab reports, allowing test results to be displayed in additional languages. This promotes inclusivity and helps patients better understand their health status.
  • ABHA ID Inclusion in Lab Reports: To align with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, we added the ability to display ABHA IDs on lab reports, improving patient identification and record management.
2. Streamlining Procurement and Inventory Management

Efficient procurement and inventory management are critical for healthcare institutions, and this year, we introduced several features to simplify these processes.

  • Purchase Requisition Feature: This feature centralizes purchasing for large institutions, allowing bulk purchase orders and real-time inventory tracking through Goods Received Notes (GRNs). It reduces manual effort, minimizes errors, and improves procurement efficiency.
  • Stock Dispenser Module: Automating pharmacy workflows, this module streamlines billing, inventory updates, and stock returns, ensuring faster service delivery and reduced waiting times for patients.
  • Stock Disposal Module: Managing expired or damaged stock is now easier than ever. This module allows precise disposal management, helping hospitals optimize inventory and reduce waste.
  • Batch Management in PO Cum GRN & GDN: This feature simplifies handling multiple batches of products received from suppliers, making inventory management more efficient and reducing administrative overhead.
3. Improving Operational Efficiency and Workflow Management

We introduced several updates to help healthcare providers streamline their operations and reduce manual effort.

  • QR Code Attendance Management: Staff can now check in and out using a mobile app with geolocation validation, automating attendance tracking and reducing errors in work-hour logs.
  • Room Restriction and Department-Based Service Mapping: This feature restricts user access to assigned rooms and auto-maps services by department, enhancing security and ensuring accurate room setups.
  • Approval Workflow in Estimate Screen: A transparent approval process for cost estimates, especially for specialized treatments like IVF, ensures accuracy and builds trust with patients.
  • Show Abnormal/Critical Result Value Filter: This feature allows pathologists to focus on out-of-range lab results, speeding up the review process and improving efficiency.
  • Control Panel Master: Combining the Exclusion Master and Edit Hospital screens into one interface, this feature centralizes configuration options, saving time and streamlining workflows.
4. Enhancing Billing and Financial Management

Billing and financial management are at the heart of healthcare operations, and this year, we introduced several features to make these processes more efficient and transparent.

  • Enhanced Invoice Generation Features: With options for OP, IP, and consolidated invoices, this update simplifies billing for B2B clients, corporate patients, and government schemes, while automating bulk invoice creation and reimbursement tracking.
  • Automated PAN Card Validation for Cash Transactions: In compliance with Indian tax regulations, MocDoc now automatically prompts for PAN card details for cash transactions exceeding ₹2 lakhs, ensuring legal compliance and reducing errors.
  • Service Charge Configuration for OP Billing Screen: This feature allows users to configure service charges for card payments directly within the OP billing screen, ensuring accurate and efficient billing.
  • Introduction of CDT and CPT Codes in Treatment Master: By integrating CDT and CPT codes, we’ve streamlined the billing process for dental and medical treatments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and speeding up insurance claims.
5. Boosting Patient Care and Clinical Management

Patient care is at the core of everything we do, and this year, we’ve introduced several features to enhance clinical management and improve patient outcomes.

  • Enhanced Duplicate Check for Patient Registration: This feature prevents duplicate patient records by validating names and mobile numbers, ensuring accurate and up-to-date patient information.
  • Room and Bed Number in Lab Order Screen: Lab technicians can now quickly locate patients by room and bed numbers, improving sample collection efficiency and reducing errors.
  • Detailed MIS Reports for ART Processes: These reports provide a comprehensive overview of IVF and IUI procedures, helping doctors and embryologists track every stage of the ART process for better patient management.
  • TNM Staging Section in Oncology Case sheet: This enhancement allows detailed documentation of tumor characteristics, supporting tailored treatment strategies and comprehensive patient care.
6. Advanced Reporting and Analytics

Data-driven decision-making is crucial in healthcare, and this year, we’ve introduced several new reports and analytics tools to provide deeper insights.

  • Income by Department/Group - Location-Wise Report: This report provides a holistic view of revenue generated across departments and locations, helping hospitals optimize revenue streams.
  • Within-TAT and Outside-TAT Report: This report tracks lab efficiency by comparing actual processing times against standard turnaround times, helping labs identify areas for improvement.
  • Schedule Register for Consumed Products: This report provides detailed tracking of H and H1 scheduled drugs, helping hospitals optimize procurement and allocation.
  • Service wise Bill Value Report: This tool offers instant insights into service billing data, eliminating manual work and enhancing decision-making.
7. Security and Compliance

We’ve also made significant strides in enhancing security and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Restricted Access to IP Main Bill Post-Closure: Access to the IP main bill print screen is now restricted after bill closure, ensuring better control and security over finalized billing records.
  • Automated PAN Card Validation for Cash Transactions: This feature ensures compliance with Indian tax regulations, reducing the risk of penalties for high-value cash transactions.
Looking Ahead

2024 was a year of remarkable progress for MocDoc, and as we move further into 2025, we’re excited to continue innovating and building on the foundation we’ve laid.
